Book a Battambang base for a creative project
Choose accommodation around work space, materials and daily access when an arts visit lasts longer than an afternoon.
UpdatedPhare’s own page is evidence of published workshop formats, not accommodation availability or a residency offer. All accommodation and transport questions are original editorial guidance; no property or workshop partnership is claimed.

A sketching trip, a writing week and a group arts workshop need different rooms. Describe what you will actually do, how many people will stay and how much time you expect to spend at the accommodation. A guesthouse may suit a visitor who works elsewhere; an apartment may be easier when you need repeated quiet sessions. Do not assume that a hotel lounge, shared garden or villa living room is available as a private studio.
Ask permission for the materials
Tell the host about paint, clay, inks, instruments or equipment before booking. Ask which activities are acceptable, where materials can be stored and how surfaces should be protected. Include any need to wash brushes or dry work. For a longer stay, agree cleaning access and a place for finished pieces. A host should be able to decline unsuitable activities without the visitor treating an ordinary accommodation booking as permission to run a workshop.
Connect the room to a confirmed learning opportunity
Phare Ponleu Selpak publishes workshops in visual and performing arts in Battambang. Use the organisation’s current programme to frame a request, then ask about the format, language and dates that fit your project. Confirm the teaching arrangement before paying for a long stay built around it. A public workshop page does not promise an artist residency, private access to students or a particular teacher for your dates.
Make the repeated journey visible
For each likely workday, identify where you need to be and what you will carry. Ask the accommodation provider about a suitable vehicle meeting point and overnight storage for a rented bicycle. If a tuk-tuk is needed, specify the outward and return journeys, bulky materials and waiting time. For a car, check that equipment fits alongside passengers. Comparing the room and transport totals together is more useful than choosing a remote room from its nightly price alone.
Reserve the space you have described
Ask the host to repeat the agreed room category, permitted use, services and any extra cleaning or equipment charge in the offer. Keep the accommodation confirmation separate from the workshop confirmation, even if the same person helps organise both. Use the reservation enquiry to describe your project in plain language. The goal is a workable stay for the visitor and a fair, manageable arrangement for the host, not an implied studio facility that nobody has approved.
