Photograph cultural encounters with permission
A good image does not outweigh the wishes of the people in it.
UpdatedAsk about the setting
A public-facing venue may still restrict photography during particular activities. Follow the organiserโs instructions. Ask individuals before making identifiable portraits, especially if you intend to publish them.
Explain your intended use
Personal memories, a commercial campaign and a public article are different uses. Explain what you want to do without implying that attendance grants every possible right.
Add accurate context
Keep notes about the event and the people who consented to be named. Avoid staging an image that misrepresents the activity. At a sports club, ask the coach when photography will not interrupt instruction.
