Sa Sa Art Projects
An artist-run initiative associated with experimental practice, education and collaborative work.
Why it matters to an art itinerary
Sa Sa Art Projects was founded in 2010 by the Stiev Selapak collective. Its documented programmes connect artistic experimentation with education, residencies and collaboration. That role differs from a gallery whose main purpose is to sell finished works. Reading about a project before visiting can help you understand its questions, process and participants, especially when the work uses performance, installation or moving images rather than a familiar painting format.
Use historical addresses carefully
The initiative’s former White Building home belongs to its history; documenta’s profile records the building’s demolition in 2017. Do not plan a visit using that old address. Confirm the current contact and public programme through the initiative before travelling. An artist talk, exhibition and working residency have different access arrangements. A request that explains your interests and group size gives the organisers a better basis for responding than an unannounced arrival.
